Education should be a synergistic process. Student learning from teacher; teacher learning from student.

Some say it was inevitable, and I can’t argue. My family holds a long history of educators, primarily in music and language arts. To say the least, my upbringing was rich in music and stage-life. Piano lessons, dance classes, voice and acting lesson from five years old to well into my college years. My stage experience spanned from musicals to state competitions, opera camp to national honor choirs. After college, I did local theater in Oklahoma City, worked as a concierge at Whole Foods, and sang in local church choirs. In 2017, I luckily happened upon an open Music Teacher position at a young charter school. With absolutely no classroom experience, I found my way by naturally connecting with students through what I love to do— making music. We had a our challenges, but my eyes were opened through how I was simultaneously learning from them while figuring out how to teach them. My students became my guiding light. In Spring of 2021, I took on my first private piano student and have slowly been building my “side hustle" to what it is today. On top of teaching, I have recently learned how to record high-quality studio tracks of students, and myself, both at Agave Studios and my classroom. So far, I am lucky to say my life experiences have shaped my path into pouring myself into my ultimate goal of one day owning multiple music and art studios, nationally and globally. Ones that offer a plethora of spaces to host and cater to all artistic creators alike. Agave Studios is only the first stop on the way there.
